We can transform your idea into a robust research project or we can implement your previously designed surveys

We have been collecting data and conducting flora and fauna surveys for over 15 years.
Our ecological field services include:
  • Research project creation, planning and implementation
  • Wildlife marking and tracking
  • Wildlife research and surveys
  • Avian surveys and point counts
  • Waterfowl banding
  • Ecological field work and data collection
  • Habitat surveys and assessments
  • Suitability analyses and assessments
  • Invertebrate sampling and identification
  • Mammalian predators and pest surveys

Our previous experience surveying waterfowl has been extensive, but we have also performed or participated in numerous surveys of other wildlife and vegetation. Examples of our past work include:
  • Conducting point counts of native and introduced birds in riparian areas throughout New Zealand
  • Using call playbacks to monitor crake, bittern and fernbird
  • Measuring and weighing commercial-caught fish and collecting otoliths
  • Counting nesting NZ dotterel, oystercatcher, and red- and black-billed gull during the breeding season
  • Collecting and identifying invertebrates using pitfall traps, sweep nets and funnel traps
  • Interviewing and surveying fishers and hunters regarding catch and effort
  • Measuring nest vegetation using visual obstruction measurements and determining percent cover using square plots
  • Assessing seed dispersal by collecting faecal samples of waterfowl
  • Equipping waterfowl with abdominally implanted or back-mounted transmitters and equipping sage grouse and striped skunk with neck collars
  • Radio-tracking and monitoring mallard ducks, Northern pintail, sage grouse, striped skunk
  • Nest searching and monitoring waterfowl, riparian nesting passerines, shorebirds, and burrowing owls
  • Equipping tree swallows and burrowing owls with geolocators
  • Banding waterfowl (numerous species of ducks and geese), grouse, owls, passerines
  • Trapping whio (blue duck) using mist-nets along rivers
